Handmade postcards always evoked only positive emotions and were valued more than purchased ones. If a child expresses a desire to make such a postcard, he needs help. Since gluing the petals is a rather tedious process for a small child. But a diligent child, even at 8-9 years old, can make such a postcard.
To make such a card, you will need: pink double-sided paper, green paper, blue or light blue cardboard, scissors, a pencil, a ruler, glue, and a compass. If you don’t have a compass, take any object that you can trace with a pencil, making a circle.
DIY PAPER LOTUS step-by-step
Step 1. Cut out 5 or 7 identical circles with a diameter of 8 cm from pink paper.
Step 2. Now draw another circle with a diameter of 3 cm in the middle of the circle. Divide the circle into 12 sectors using a ruler, drawing a line only to the inner circle.
Step 3. Cut the circle along these lines.
Step 4. Prepare the remaining circles in the same way.
Step 5. Now, using a pencil, twist each sector into a cornet. Work only from the front side, since when gluing all the drawn lines will hide inside. In order not to stain the workpiece, take a pencil of the same color as the paper.
You will get something like this
Step 6. Now carefully glue all the petals in the form of little cornets, making a sharp corner.
Step 7. These are the beautiful flowers you should get.
Step 8. Apply glue to the middle of one piece. Place the second one on it, but so that its petals are located between the petals of the lower flower.
If you want to make a lotus flower with a noticeable center, then use only 5 blanks, since when using seven circles the center will not be visible.
Step 9. To hide the markings, cut out one circle in a contrasting color and glue it into the middle of the topmost circle. The result is a lotus like this.
Step 10. Cut out a round lotus leaf from green paper using the template, cutting to the center. The edges of the leaf should be slightly curled.
Step 11. Apply glue to it, leaving 1cm short of the edges, and glue it onto a square blue cardboard. Bend the edges of the leaf slightly upward.
Step 12. Apply glue to the bottom of the flower and glue it to the green leaf in any place you like. The paper lotus is ready! All that remains is to add the paper frog.
